Another Fine Success!

What a brilliant evening of Laurel and Hardy! A near full house laughed and sang along to the antics on stage for this Theatre Royal Onward fundraiser.

In the first half Chris Coffey gave a thoroughly interesting talk ‘The Men Behind the Movies’ followed by a Q&A session with an attentive audience asking many questions. Chris showed what an authority he is on all things Laurel and Hardy from the early days of the Boys to technical details of how films were put together and so much more.

In the second half Andrew Craig Shepherd took to the stage with his one-man play ‘The Fiddle and the Bow’. It was a delight to see this again, this time in a theatre situation. The audience were spellbound by the clever way Andrew tells the story, switching from character to character so quickly. It is a funny and moving play that has you laughing and yes, a tear in the eye when the Boys say farewell.

The evening was introduced and interspersed with Laurel and Hardy slapstick and song and dance with the audience in game mood to sing along with classic songs from the movies. The format of show received high praise with members of the audience saying they could follow and enjoyed Andrew’s play more knowing the history better after Chris’s talk.

Sailors Beware extend their thanks to Chris and Andrew and all who helped in making it a simply great night of Laurel and Hardy!
